Eating on a budget

'Cause I thought spending an average of 20 bucks a day for some 'slightly healthier' food at nearby menara hap seng or UBN tower instead of the typical all-they-can-fry stalls behind my office where most of my colleagues eats is starting to hurt my wallet. I thought of hitting the supermarkets to make my own healthy food.

Stevie had earlier warned me that packing sandwiches and salads may actually end up costing similarly to eating out. I didn't believe until i was so close to putting some of the stuff i got in the trolley when i hit the checkout.

RM 167.25!

So here's some tips from my mom when shopping for food:

1- Get a basket

Forget about trolleys. You'll head straight to the checkout once you start to feel the weight on your arms.

2- Look up and down

Eye-level merchandise are usually those promoted by the manufacturer and supermarkets so they tend to cost more than those located at the upper or lower shelves.

3- Never shop for food with an empty stomach.

Doing this will end up chucking the extra chocolates and junk food which defeated the purpose of budget-eating.

Stupid traffic police

It has been a week since the last time i hit the gym in the morning before turning up for work and due to the sales target i have to achieve for March, I've been staying late at work till 10 pm almost everyday for a week now.

I finally had enough sleep yesterday and manage to wake up earlier for gym today, only to realize the traffic horror along ALL roads; major, trunk, back lanes, everywhere!!

The culprit? Traffic police!

For the past few days traffic was heavy but moving without them. Everytime when they took over the role of traffic lights the situation went downhill rightaway with poor synchronizing at different junctions.

A classic example is the junction that merges Jalan Bukit Bintang with Jalan Raja Chulan behind Pavilion. With the lights, traffic is smooth because it's green only for either side of the traffic. Where our traffic police allows both traffic flow at the same time and direction. If you're trying to head left into Jalan Perak infront of Cosway and Novotel, you can forget about it. (with malaysian road etiquette in addition.)

This is not the first time traffic police creating jams everywhere. Please, leave it to the traffic lights if you're not properly trained.

Just fuck and keep quiet!

'So me and Geoff were having brunch at the cafe next to my office and this cute hunky guy walked passed us and so ofcourse we exchanged a few glances.

"Arghhh his bulge from his pants reminds me of Brat (not his real name), my regular fuckbuddy who only fucks and kept his mouth shut." said geoff with his mouth full.

10 seconds ago we were talking about how to increase sales in the club.

So this was his story with Brad which replaces the sales conversation for the entire meal:

Two Sundays ago, Geoff received a text from my on-and-off fuckbuddy Brat while watching The Nanny.

Brad texted: "Keen?"

His question can mean only one thing. That little four-letter word has a life of its own and a special place in any dictionary for any gay men. And i love how some of us have come up with special code-phrases to ask our fuckbuddies out when we're horny-and-want-to-get-off.

So Geoff invited him over to his place as he was horny-and-want-to-get-off, too.

Brat arrived, looking tired. A little moody. Probably jetlag, he figured.

"Actually, i wouldn't have assumed jetlag if he didn't tell me, only on our third meeting, that he was an air steward. Before that, he was extremely reluctant to talk about anything other than what we were going to do."

It was the fifth meeting, and all geoff know is his name, age and occupation. And he only uses one kindof lube only found in Australia. And that's about it.

This has yet to happen to me but it left me wonder, isn't it theoretically weird, knowing so little about the person I share my bed with, who might wake up in the night and rob me blind, or set my apartment on fire?

It's not about being paranoid. After all, being a good fuck and a psycho aren't mutually exclusive.

Personally if i were Geoff i would feel disgustingly embarrassed when the guy i just slept with minutes ago snapped. "You like to ask alot of questions. hor"

I'm confused. Sexually confused. It didn't help to be out and only out for nearly 2 years and wasn't sure if getting to know your fuck buddy taboo? Perhaps I have not had enough fuckbuddies until being in a stable relationship now.

So this is what i think, our sexuality - always something to hide and be wary about, possibly to our career, or relations with family and friends to remain anonymous and herding us into an unfriendliness and distance we must maintain with our fuckbuddies while at the same time fulfilling our needs.

Or perhaps there is also the fear of being disappointed Brat used to experience.

Getting too used with everything?

Not a healthy sign, as you'll probably loose the independent-strong-smart-guy tag you've once branded yourself when you're still single. Once your relationship gets more intimate, it is really easy for either side to conveniently start taking things for granted and slowly becoming the dependent-full-of-complaints-bitch.

I almost became the bitch today when stevie couldn't meet me up for dinner and fetch me home after work. (At least I'm an honest one to confess in case i'm really a bitch) I was a little uneasy and starting to feel what used to be a daily routine- getting home myself as troublesome as hiking through the silk route as I'm walking to KLCC for my bus.

As I got into the bus, things just got worse. The couple behind me was in an argument. As I slowly, (and accidentally) picked up their conversation, they were arguing because the guy apparently forgot to take the garbage out to be collected! From there goes the picking of each other's bad habits and even insulting their past. At one point it got so dramatic when the guy got so irritated he pinched his girl!

It hit me in my mind. It is going to take so long before me and stevie can actually establish a relationship to a stage whereby any of us is responsible for the garbage. And for such a small matter but ironically requires so much effort to accomplish, the couple in the bus is willing to hurt each other in public?

The 10 minute ride home had left me feeling guilty, even more when he called moments after I've arrived to check if I'm safe.

Well I believe a healthy love life is about achieving balance between all flavors of life: sweet, sour, spicy, bitter and that includes tasteless events as well as most of the time we tend to pay more attention to the extremes- the fabulous and the worst, forgetting the eventless times which makes up most of our life.

A Transition!

It's been some time since I last posted something on my blog; thanks to my 12 hour job at Fitness First I barely have time to even clean up the mess in my room! Since it's now chinese new year and I have a precious 4 days break, it's time to update it so that I won't miss out this bit of history of my life!

The past two months has been a transition of my personal experience from studying to a working world. Though being a consultant at Fitness First doesn't exactly bring me forward to a corporate world yet, but it sure does its job in creating a different perspective for me when I look at matters now compared to just a couple of months ago.

Although 2009 is only 26 days old, I can sense something BIG happening and as a matter of fact I'm actually pretty positive about it despite various negative forecast by some feng shui masters and economists.

For those who're literally shocked knowing I've already started work, it's only for a few months before I sink back into the lectures and exams.

saggitarian fun facts

A levels has finally ended on friday! Helped stevie moving and cleaning his new place yesterday and I saw this article about my horoscope from astrocenter and I think it's interesting.

So... this is (mostly) me:

Inquisitive and energetic, the Sagittarius is the traveler of the Zodiac. Their philosophical, broad-minded approach to life motivates them to wander far and wide in the search for the meaning of life. Extroverted, optimistic, and enthusiastic, it can be almost impossible to keep the Sagittarius down. They love change. In fact, change is essential for this sign to feel their best.

Love and Sex

Sagittarians are playful and love to have fun with their lovers. Passionate, expressive, and willing to try just about anything, partners who are equally outgoing are best suited to the Sagittarius. There's a fine line between sex and love for this sign. Their love of change and variety can bring a lot of different faces to the bedroom. But when it comes to love, that's an entirely different thing. Once taken, the Sagittarian is loyal, true-blue, and devoted. Mates for this sign need to be intellectual, sensitive, and expressive for the best results. As the key phrase for this sign is "I understand", having a good sense of how their partner thinks is quite important.
(I didn't write this myself but it's unbelievably true!)

Color
The color of choice for Sagittarius is rich purple. (And grey, actually.)

Gemstone
Sagittarius's star stone is the topaz.

Lucky Numbers
Sagittarius' lucky numbers are 3, 5, and 8.

Compatibility
Sagittarians are most compatible with Leo and Aries.

Opposite Sign
The opposite sign for Sagittarius is Gemini.

The Perfect Gift
The best gifts for a Sagittarius are pet-related items or something for the outdoors. (Outdoors? well if the mood and weather is right.)

Likes
Travel, being outdoors, freedom, philosophy

Dislikes
Details, being constrained (Definitely), off-the-wall theories, clingy people

Best Travel Destinations
South Africa(always wanted), Australia(been there), Spain(backpacking there some day), Portugal(no plans so far), Toronto(been there, love it), Naples(let's take the next available flight!)

Strengths
Great sense of humor, idealistic, generous

Weaknesses
Will say anything no matter how undiplomatic, promises more than can deliver, can be impatient to the point of rudeness (erm...ask Stevie)

Charismatic marks
Open and interested. Generally tall, strong legs.

Clothes
For comfort, not style. Women act in a “tomboy” manner. (Hmmmm...)

Best environment
Outside(nice weather ok?), on the move (the more, the merrier!)

Exam craze around the world

You think Singapore has the craziest exam culture?
Think Again.

South Korean education ministry and whatever authorities responsible for the CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) is taking every possible effort to make this exam "one of it's kind". The CSAT alone involves coordination of the whole nation and beyond; yes, they meant it!

Military training exercises nationwide were suspended and military aircraft grounded to avoid noise during audio foreign language tests. Seven inbound flights to Incheon Airport were told to stay at 10,000 feet as students took the first audio test that lasted 13 minutes.

Stock market, government agencies and many private firms opened at least an hour later to ease morning traffic jams that could cause students to be late.

Furthermore, parents could be seen praying outside schools where their kids were taking the CSAT which is a decisive factor in determining future careers in South Korea.

If you are a student sitting for CSAT, there's only two possible thoughts running in your mind. Either you feel extremely honoured or horribly tensed and terrified. I think I'll pick the second one.
